Were costs reduced as planned?
The redesign was fully implemented in the fall 2001 semester as planned. Because section size averaged 139 students in each of four sections rather than 150 as planned, the decline in the cost-per-student went from $139 to $84 (rather than the planned $78), a savings of 40% (rather than 44%.)
