Blackboard, the first software company to join the NCAT Corporate Associates Program, joined the program in May of 2007. The company introduced its new relationship with NCAT to Blackboard customers at Blackboard World, with a pre-conference workshop on course redesign as well as a conference session that attracted over 200 attendees. Blackboard plans to identify best practices in the use of the Blackboard suite of products to support course redesign and to identify possible areas for product enhancement.
Cengage Learning (formerly Thomson Learning) was the first member of the Corporate Associates Program, joining the program in early 2004. Cengage Learning has worked closely with NCAT on a variety of market research and market development initiatives. Partnering with NCAT, Cengage Leanring has worked with innovative thinkers on campus in developing products such as Thomson NOW and in managing innovations such as the assessment initiative at the University of Virginia.
Houghton Mifflin has been a member of the NCAT Corporate Associates Program since 2005.
Houghton’s Faculty Program Group, comprised of full-time experienced college educators who consult on teaching and learning, has led the NCAT partnership at Houghton. Under the auspices of the Faculty Program Group, Houghton has sponsored a series of events in partnership with NCAT, including a unique two day retreat on technology and learning that provided a common framework for thinking about how Houghton Mifflin materials and technologies could be used to support course redesign. Houghton has also provided support to a number of active course redesign projects.
McGraw Hill Higher Education is the newest NCAT Corporate Associate, joining the program in June of 2007. At MHHE, participation is collaboration, including all editorial teams and the newly formed Online Division. McGraw has completed its first disciplinary workshop in partnership with NCAT, providing key customers with information and consultation on how to prepare an effective plan for course redesign. Such initiatives build a solid foundation for participants in the principles of course redesign and will encourage some of the participating teams to apply for NCAT programs such as Colleagues Committed to Redesign and statewide initiatives.
Pearson Education has been an active member of the Corporate Associates Program since the fall of 2004 and has offered a number of discipline specific workshops in Course Redesign featuring both NCAT staff and NCAT Redesign Scholars. Pearson also worked with NCAT staff in the development and dissemination of research that highlights the impact of its products in supporting the principles of Course Redesign and improved student outcomes. Focusing initially on its market-leading MyMathLab offering, Pearson has extended its activities with NCAT to embrace a broad range of disciplines, including English and Spanish.
